Exquaestio Biographies
Note: the deities followed by Exquaestio can be found in the Glossary.
- Geros Haram (1423 - ?)
- Geros was born to a family of shopkeepers in a small trade port on
the north Junder coast. His family became quaestae in 1438, one of the
first in their community to do so. He was made a Seeker in 1439 and sent
to aid the primate Hugo
Crespi, whereupon Feroze made him Scout, the first of the Scirus
gleam. He married one of Hugo
Crespi's daughters in 1442. In 1447, before the Grand Conclave,
Feroze made him Pioneer. He remains associated with the Primacy.
- Hugo Crespi (1386 - 1447)
- A prosperous farmer of Southern Junder, Hugo was deeply interested
by the teachings of the stranger and spent a great deal of time
discussing them in 1435 and 1436. Shortly after the appearance of the
first espiri and rohain in 1436, he was chosen as primate over the
anradan section of the faith.
Hugo proved to be an extremely competant administrator until his death.
He died in 1447 on his way to the first Grand Conclave, where he would
undoubtedly been re-chosen as primate.
- Lars Venekson (1397 - 1454)
- Made rohain in 1435. The first rohain preceptor, Lars decided upon a
system of slow growth. He also decided on the pattern of training for
Exquaestio's militia. He died at the Battle of Lildra.
- Mirafelle (1422 - ?) [Mira
of Lowfells, Mira Fells]
- The child of a peasant family in the village of Lowfells in
southern Junder, Mira spared whatever time she could to listen to
Feroze when he visited the village in 1435. When she adopted Exquastio
in 1436 she was immediately made scout. She was the third espiri to be
gifted and the first of the Motus gleam. She married the rohain Tallas Fells in 1437, and
the two of them were sent to Crisaeda as missionaries. She lived in
Crisaeda from 1438 to 1440, and moved to Mirabalpur in 1441 where she
has lived since. She became the elder espiri after the year of
mourning in 1444. Her first
child was born in 1440. Other children followed in 1447 (a
daughter) and 1452 (a son). In 1452 she discovered the rite to halt
aging.
- Olivia of Lowfells (1409 - 1444)
- Olivia's family emigrated to the village of Lowfells in Southern
Junder in 1416. She was married in 1424 and bore 7 children before her
husband died of a farming accident in 1434. She began working as a
midwife in 1432, and under the tutelage of the disguised Feroze she was
made the first espiri on Celandra (and Exquaestio's espiri elder) in
1336. She was made Pioneer in 1337 when she realized Feroze's
disguise.
Her gleam as a Scout was Salubrus, and her dedication to healing became
a lifelong quest. Her death was due to her efforts to seek a rite for
healing infections as well as injuries. She caught a fever from a family
she attempted to heal in the winter of 1443, and died shortly
thereafter. She was mourned throughout the year of 1444.
- Rojez Lafwe (1418 - ?)
- Rojez was born to a family of construction carpenters in Crisaeda.
Apprenticed as a boatbuilder, he traveled to Junder in 1436 and
converted to Exquaestio in 1438. Returning to Crisaeda in 1440 he took
a leadership role in the quaestae community while Mira and Tallas were indisposed. When Mira and Tallas traveled to Mirabalpur in 1440 he was
appointed the leading anradan in Crisaeda.
He played a leading role during the first Grand Conclave in 1447, and
was chosen Primate. It was at his suggestion that the advisory council
was composed of relatively young quaestae serving for relatively short
terms.
- Tallas Fells (1405 - 1454)
- Tallas was one of the mercenaries who came upon the village of
Lowfells in 1435 and became rohain in 1436. In 1437 he married the
espiri Mirafelle. He
participated in the Third Goblin War (1449 - 1456) under Mirrish
command and died at the Battle of Lildra.
- Tania Kerili (1436 -
)
- Tania Kerili is the bastard daughter of a Parglugi nobleman and a
Laresian merchantwoman (she uses the surname of the man her mother
married). Though never formally acknowledged, her birth was an "open
secret," and her father saw that she received a good education for her
sex and family. She became a salubrus Scout in 1452 while listening to
Exquaestio teachings. In 1453 the Sedonian forces in Parglug for the
Third Goblin War accepted her as a healer. In 1454 she solved the
problem of sepsis and gained Pioneer rank, but her original message to
Mirafelle was lost and the
technique didn't spread until after 1457. In 1454, after the Battle of
Ha'ash Et Ura, she transferred to assist Parglug's military. She
remains unmarried.
- Ulysses Fells (1440 - )
- The child of Tallas
and Mira Fells, Ulysses
displayed magical ability in the womb and his resistance to his birth
would have killed both him and his mother if not for her own magical
ability. He entered the Sorcerer's college in Mirabalpur in 1452 and
was officially made an apprentice sorcerer in 1456.
