Who is Jeff?

Welcome to my home page. I'm the Jeff Wilson who lives in Fort Collins, Colorado my three cats. I hope you enjoy looking through my page as much as I did designing it. Please email me with comments on the page, or anything else I might be interested in. I welcome any and all personal email, and look forward to hearing from you.

I'm 42, and looking for employment as a Web Site Designer (see my resume). I've been working with computers since 1977, and although I do not have a degree, I've made computers my career. What I enjoy most is developing systems that get people the information they need. My main interest is in using systems that are new to me so I can put my ability learn rapidly to good use. I'm particularly interested in any job opportunities in the Northern Colorado area, but wouldn't be adverse to relocating if neccesary.

I'm imaginative, with a religious streak, but I have a strong practical and scientific foundation. I'm open-minded, but not so open-minded my brains have fallen out. I work hard, and try to play hard.

Hobbies and Interests

Computers

My computer background is eclectic. My first computer was an old Atari machine, and I've been programming in Basic since 1977. I never earned my degree, although I'm now working toward it, but I'm still familiar with a wide variety of computer programs and languages. I can do Programming, Word Processing, Database management, Spreadsheet development, Graphic manipulation, and Presentation creation with many different programs. In addition to a basic knowledge of accounting procedures, I am well-acquainted with software for flowcharting, communications, on-line access, and a wide variety of utilities.

My history with computers has been mainly in database programming and design, but I have developed a large number of systems for a wide variety of needs.

All that said, my current love is the World Wide Web and HTML. My background allows me easily design web site to meet individual needs, and make them appealing to the majority of browsers. I'm working on a Structured Design Methodology for web sites, and hope to have it ready for posting here soon. I haven't been working with in the Web for very long, but I'm determined that this is the career for me. Anybody have any advice?

Reading

I love books, and my personal library is currently at 2,130 volumes. My first love is science fiction, but I also collect pure science, history, fantasy, mystery, and gaming. My favorite authors at the moment are David Brin, Sharon Green, and Cheryl J. Franklin. Anyone have any recomendations about books or reading material?

Role-Playing Games

I've been playing role-playing games since 1978. I started with AD&D, and since then have played most of the major systems that have come along. My current favorite is GURPS. I recently started a Fantasy Age of Exploration campaign set in the N'Ferra Sphere. I've developed a number of gaming resources which I've put on the web.

I do most of my gaming at the Science Fiction and Fantasy Association at CSU, and am the main storyteller for the associated Live Action Role-Playing group. My main strength as a GM is in inventing new and different worlds. To aid in this, I have developed a system of development ratings which enable me to quickly outline the strengths and weaknesses of new worlds. I particularly enjoy discussing world design and the way societies might adapt to things like magic, psionics, or advanced technology.
